Never miss a chargeable zone payment again

Road Charge Pilot watches for your car entering a UK toll road, Clean Air Zone, ULEZ or barrierless charging zone (like Dartford Crossing or an airport drop-off zone) and alerts you straight away, so you always know what you owe and when it's due.

How it works

Three steps, all handled automatically in the background.

1

You drive

Road Charge Pilot quietly watches your location in the background. No need to open the app or start a trip.

2

You get notified

The moment you enter a chargeable zone, you get a notification confirming the zone and whether a charge is likely to apply to your vehicle.

3

You pay in time

Every crossing is logged with its payment deadline, and you get a reminder before it's due, so you can pay (or mark it as paid) before it's too late.

Frequently asked questions

The short version: see the full FAQ on the support page for more.

Does Road Charge Pilot pay the charge for me?

No. Road Charge Pilot is a notification tool, not a payment service. It tells you a charge is likely due and by when, and gives you a quick link to pay through the official scheme operator's own site.

Which zones are covered?

London's Congestion Charge, LEZ and ULEZ, the Bath, Birmingham, Bradford, Bristol, Newcastle/Gateshead, Portsmouth and Sheffield Clean Air Zones, Oxford's Zero Emission Zone and traffic filters, Scotland's Low Emission Zones (Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow), Dartford Crossing, Humber Bridge, Mersey Gateway, the Sandbanks Ferry, Silver Jubilee Bridge, the Silvertown & Blackwall Tunnels, Tyne Tunnel, Warburton Bridge, and drop-off zones at Birmingham, East Midlands, Gatwick, Heathrow, London City, London Southend, Luton, Manchester and Stansted airports. See the full FAQ for the complete list.

Does it work if my car isn't found on the DVLA lookup?

Yes, you can enter your fuel type and first registration date manually, and we'll estimate your vehicle's emissions standard from that instead.

How much does it cost?

Road Charge Pilot is £12 a year, with a 7-day free trial so you can try it before you're charged.
